Past Events

 April 2018: Our inaugural event was the showing of a newly prepared film of the review ‘Cavalcade of Churt’ first staged in the village hall in 1988.  Available on CD.

March 2019: PowerPoint presentation ‘1883 – Who lived in Churt’ based on a notebook written by the vicar in 1883.

July 2019: A village walk and tea based on the vicar’s book above.

January 2021: Zoom on-line presentation ‘The history of St John’s Church’

June 2021 on-line presentation ‘Aircraft incidents on NT land in Surrey and West Sussex’ based on research by Andy Jones and Andrew Hall and with their permission.  Available on this link: https://theartssociety-org.zoom.us/rec/share

March 2022: Churt Heritage AGM.

July 2022: The Heritage walk around Churt again proved popular and between 50 and 60 people enjoyed the walk and/or tea at Crane’s Tea House on Redhearn Green (aka Redhearn Cottage).

September 2022: ‘Looking for the Romans on the Surrey/Hampshire borders’.  Given the signs of roman occupation all around David Graham thinks there must be something here – we just have to find it!

November 2022: Jo Smith, local historian from Headley, talk ‘Flora Thompson, beyond Candleford Green’.

March 29 2023: Churt Heritage AGM.

May 17th 2023: 7.30 pm Churt Village Hall, talk ‘The Churt Centenary’.  Churt developed from an area into a village in the 1920s.

July 5th 2023: 7.30 pm Churt Village Hall, Matthew Alexander ‘The Wey Navigation’.
